Comparison Blog Post #4

There are many differences between Little Cog-Burt and Cotton Candy, however there a few similarities. For example, both stories have to do something with a mother. In Cotton Candy, Lola's mom was very over protective over her daughter and she tried hard to keep her from following her dreams in any type of way. In Little Cog-Burg, Moira, who lives away from her kids is sad because she is unable to spend time with her kids since they are away in school, and she is living on Dominica and taking care of her plantations and her workers. However, these two mothers are very different from each other as Moira really cares for her kids and Lola's mother is more concerned having her needs met rathen than caring about how her daughter feels. Another big difference was what was happening in the stories. In Cotton Candy, The Cuban Revolution was a big part of the story since Lola and many other workers were dealing with bad conditions and had to flee to Havana. In Little Cog-Burg, the story took place in Dominica, and it focused on Moira and her Husband Richard were unable to see their kids on Christmas, so they ended up being resentful towards their workers. The biggest similarity between these two stories is that they both are dealing with some kind of oppression. The workers had to deal with Moira and her Husband being rude and ill-fated towards them, but Lola had to deal with the same thing since her mother tried to stop her from being happy in any means that she could. The two stories have a lot in common but are different in their own ways.
