Blog Post #5 - Revison of Blog Post #4

In the two stories of Little Cog-Burt and Cotton Candy, we can read into these stories and look into the difference and the similarities of both. Starting of with the similarities, we can tell that the two stories both have a mother character. In Cotton Candy, Lola's mother was a very overbearing mother as she was constantly being very over protective over her daughter as she also tried to stand in the way of Lola's dreams. In little Cog-Burg, Moira is a mother and her kids are away at boarding school as she works on a plantation with her husband in Dominica. However, her husband and herself are not the only ones who live on the plantation as well since she has other people who work for her on the island. They are not slaves, but they were not paid very well during the time of the story. These two mothers are very different as Moira can be rude to the kids who work there she learns to care for them as she cares for her own children, but Lola's mother is just a rude person as she is trying to keep Lola from achieving what she wants to achieve.
More differences between the two stories is that in Cotton Candy, the story took place during the Cuban Revolution. It was a big part of the story because Lola, her family, and other workers were trying to escape the harsh conditions and fled to Havana. In Little Cog-Burg, the story took place on the island of Dominica, and it focused on Moira and her Husband Richard as they were unable to see their children during Christmas, so that was the reason they were being resentful towards their workers. One of the few similarities in the story is that they were dealing with some type of oppression in the story. The two stories both have a lot of similarities but they are different in their own ways.
